to attend 3 weeks internship related to small
animal surgery at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, FVM-KKU During
January 17th - February
3rd, 2018.
Besides training at Vet Teaching Hospital, FVM-KKU had also provided
special schedule for 2 exchange students to
visit at Khon Kaen zoo and the King Cobra village, Ban Khok Sa-nga,
Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen. Since the two institutions have had
MOU collaboration in 2014, both students are the very first batch
from Airlangga University that comes to visit FVM-KKU.

from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, The
Netherlands. This visit focused on observed atmosphere of class
learning and service standard at FVM-KKU Animal Hospital during 31st
October – 1st November, 2017. Moreover, for more than 10
years that the two institutions have had the academic cooperation
under MOU as well as student and staff exchanges.

students from Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University,
Bangladesh (4th group)
On October 9th,
2017, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean
of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM-KKU) together with
Faculty’s administration team and staff warmly welcomed 6 exchange
students, Mr. Mohammad Yusuf Munna, Mr. Avijit Dhar, Miss Farhana
Islam Zummy, Miss Biethee Rani Sarker, Miss Umme Nazifa Alam and Miss Sharmin Akhter Mili, from
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal
Sciences University, Bangladesh (CVASU). This is the fourth time
that delegates from CVASU visited FVM-KKU after first batch had
visited in July, second and third batches in September, 2017. This
exchange program was under MOU collaboration between the 2
institutions. The 6 Bangladesh students are going to attend short
course training in Companion Animal as well as Large Animal clinics
during October 9th – 22nd, 2017.
During the visit, they will have an opportunity to observe and
practice at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, work on a field trip
and also learn Thai culture. FVM-KKU expected that this time
internship will also enhance the experience as well as raising the
level of veterinary skills. So this is in line with Khon Kaen
University's goal of strengthening internationalism.

Animal Sciences University, Bangladesh (CVASU). This is the third
time that delegates from CVASU visited FVM-KKU after first batch had
visited in July and second batch in September 11th, 2017
under MOU collaboration between the two institutions. The Bangladesh

In the afternoon session on September 25th, 2017,
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean of The Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine Khon Kaen University (FVM-KKU) and Asst.
Prof. Dr.Pongthorn Suwannathada, Associate Dean for Animal
Hospital had warmly welcomed delegates from Institute of Public
Administration of Ministry of Home Affairs (IPDN), Indonesia.
This visit was focused on FVM-KKU Animal hospital service standard
and also visited Surgery room, Medical room, X-rays room, Veterinary
Laboratories, Laboratory for Diagnosis in Livestock.

exchange students from Taiwan
On the afternoon session, August 2nd, 2017,
at the Dean Office, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
University (FVM-KKU) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamolled,
Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, together with administrative
team had welcomed Mr. Chao-Chia Chang,
Miss Yi-Ju Lin and Miss Wei-Tieh Chen exchange student
from College
of Veterinary Medicine, National Chung Hsing University,
Taiwan (NCHU).
3 NCHU students will attend clinical practice in Companion Animal
unit at the Animal Teaching Hospital, FVM-KKU during August 3rd
– 30th, 2017 which under the
supervision of FVM-KKU Hospital’s veterinarian. There will be
lecturers and students from both universities have an opportunity to
exchange every year. This exchange program is base on the
cooperation under the academic cooperation agreement and staff
exchange between Khon Kaen University and
National Chung Hsing University,
Taiwan. FVM-KKU expects that this internship will be enhancing the
experience as well as upgrading the skills and expertise of
veterinary profession.
FVM-KKU welcomed administrator and student
from SWU, China.
On August 2nd, 2017 led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat
Kamollerd, Dean of the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
University together with the faculty administrations team and staff
warmly welcomed Dr. Wang Haoju, Chief Secretary of the
CPC Committee and Dr. Huang Lanxiang, Dean of Department of
Veterinary Medicine, and 8 students from College of Animal Science,
Southwest University, China. This visit is a part of staffs and
students exchange program under MOU collaboration between the two
institutes. In addition, long and short term exchange staffs was
discussed. During the visit, SWU delegates had an opportunity to
observed the Animal Teaching Hospital and laboratory facilities of
the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The 8
students from SWU will be trained at KKU veterinary Teaching
Hospital during August 3rd – 30th, 2017 which
under supervision by Teaching Hospital veterinarian. In addition,
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University and College
of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University, had a long
and continuous academic cooperation, especially regards to exchange
of students and staff. In each year, there will be lecturers and
students from both universities take a chance to exchange. Current
there are 2 students from the College of Animal Science and
Technology, Southwest University studying in master and doctoral
degree at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Khon Kaen University.
2017 Students and staff exchange
programs under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU and College of Animal Science
and Technology, Southwest University, China
During June 14th - 18th, 2017 led by Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Sunpetch Angkititrakul, lecturer in Department of
Veterinary Public Health and Asst. Prof. Dr. Suwit Uopasai,
associate dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University (FVM-KKU) had
led eight FVM-KKU students to study and exchange cultural at the
College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University in
Chongqing, China (SWU).
The purpose of their visit was for a study trip and discussing about
research between the two universities. FVM-KKU delegates also
followed up the progress of MOU between the Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, KKU
and College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University.
In addition, during the trip, the students had the opportunity to
join veterinary activities with SWU students. In recent year, there
were 2 graduate students from SWU have enrolled for master degree
and PhD at FVM-KKU.

University of Miyazaki, Japan
On June 7, 2017, Prof. Dr. Naoaki Misawa, Prof. Nariaki Nonaka and Assoc.
Prof. Tamaki Okabayashi, administrators from the Center of
Animal Disease Control, University of Miyazaki, Japan visited Khon
Kaen University. They were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat
Kamolled, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
Univesity (FVM-KKU) together with the administrative team
and supporting staff at Pichet Luangthongkam Building, FVM-KKU. The
purpose of their visit was for a study trip and discussing about
research between the two universities. They also followed up the
progress of MOU between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU and
the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Miyazaki which has been
recently signed in 2016. Then, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kochakorn Direksin,
Associate Dean for Research and International Affairs and Asst.
Prof. Dr. Ranee Singh, Assistant Dean for Research and
International Affairs led them to the laboratories in each
department of the faculty and the central laboratory of FVM-KKU
Animal Teaching Hospital.

in England
During May 22nd
– 26th, 2017 Dr. Sarinya Rerkyusuke, lecturer in
Department of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Khon Kaen University, participated
The 9th International Sheep Veterinary Congress
,Harrogate,England. At the
conference, she also present her research entitled “Brucellosis
in Small Holder meat goats in Northeastern Thailand and
Seroprevalence of Mycobacterium avium subsp. Paratubeculosis
infection in goat herds in Northern Thailand” This visit was
supported by the Livestock Disease Prevention Technology Research
Group, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon kaen University and
Khon kaen University scholarship for international academic
presentation, work Artistic display Innovative architecture design
and invention.

Veterinary Medicine KKU students joined Cooperative Veterinary
Education Program at School of Veterinary Medicine, Rakuno Gakuen
University, Japan
Miss Supaporn
Numpradit
and MissJeerakit Jomworawong the 6th year
student from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
University (FVM-KKU) joined 2017 International Veterinary Education
Program at School of Veterinary Medicine, Rakuno Gakuen University,
Japan (RGU) for a period of 3 months during January 16th
– April 13th, 2017. Both students participated in small
animal clinic training in Oncology / Soft tissue surgery. During the
internship, the two students had the opportunity to attend the
lecture class together with RGU students, learning the new technique
of Ultrasound, X-Ray, CT-Scan, MRI and various of surgical cases at
the hospital. Before their internship finish, the two students were
assigned to submit the case study report to RGU supervisor for their
evaluation. Miss Supaporn Numpradit reported her interested
case study entitled “Monitoring of plasma histamine concentration
for diagnosis and treatment in canine mast cell tumor: preliminary
study from 2 cases”, this case was supervised
by Prof. Kadosawa Tsuyoshi from RGU, Animal Medical Center.
MissJeerakit Jomworawong reported her interested case
study entitled “Total cystectomy and uretero-preputial anastomosis
with transitional cell carcinoma in a 10 year old dog”, this case
was supervised by Prof. Kadosawa
Tsuyoshi.
This is the second-time visit from FVM-KKU’s
students to RGU after the first delegates visited in 2015. In
addition, FVM-KKU also provided partially budget supported to the
students for this time visit due to the board realized that
international internship could benefits to the students directly
particularly the experience of living abroad. This would inspire
students to improve themselves in many aspects, such as working in a
real working place with foreigners, communication through
international languages, etc., especially promotes
internationalization to the faculty and Khon Kaen University as
well.

Veterinary Medicine’s lecturer visit the Republic of Korea for
academic exchange
During May 18th – 21st,
2017 Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaruwan Kampa, lecturer in Department of
Pathobiology, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
University, was invited from BIONOTE, Inc., to visit BIONOTE
Technology laboratory and tour manufacturer particularly discuss and
share of laboratory technology and diagnostic related topics.
BIONOTE is a leader in diagnostic tools in animal healthcare market
in Korea and Southeast Asia. In 2003, Bio – Technology Laboratory
was established. This visit was supported by Best Agro Companion
Company Limited.

On the morning session, May 15th,
2017, at the Dean Office, Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University (FVM-KKU) led by Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamolled, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, KKU had welcomed Miss Alexandria Talley, an
exchange student from the College of Veterinary Medicine,
University of Georgia, USA. Miss Alexandria Talley attends
clinical practice in Bovine unit at the Animal Teaching Hospital,
FVM-KKU during May 16thto 22nd, 2017
which under the supervision of Dr. Awirut Wichaiwong. FVM-KKU.
And also provided her 1 month training program at Khon Kaen Zoo
during May 23rdto
June 20th, 2017 and
another 2 weeks program at Thai Elephant Conservation Center,
Lampang Province during June 21st
- July 7th, 2017
under the supervision Dr. Onjira Chaophong, FVM-KKU’s
alumnus.
This exchange program is base
on the cooperation under the academic cooperation agreement and
staff exchange between Khon Kaen University and University of
Georgia, USA. FVM-KKU expects that this internship will be enhancing
the experience as well as upgrading the skills and expertise of
veterinary profession.

Veterinary Medicine KKU’s lecturer is invited to participate co-research
project in Japan
Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Prasarn Tangkawattana,
lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Khon kaen University, KKU visited to Faculty of Veterinary
Science, Rakuno Gakuen University, Japan for co-research project
entitled "Diversity of structural analysis of connective tissue
to elucidate the construction and development of connective tissue
in hepatic lobule" for a period of 6 months during April 20th
- October 19th, 2017. The project expenditure was
supported by 2017 Rakuno Gakuen University International Guest
Researcher Program grant.

services
During April
11-17, 2017, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Prawit Butudom, lecturer in Department of Medicine,
the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU had visited New Zealand in
order to do academic services as a veterinary representative of the
International Equestrian Federation (Fédération Équestre
Internationale (FEI) for the equestrian competition entitled “The
New Zealand National Endurance Championship 2017,
New Zealand”. This visit was supported by The Organizing Committee,

Vietnam Research Institute
On March 30th,
2017, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University by
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kachakorn Direksin, Associate Dean for Research
and International Affairs Welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huynh
Phan, President, as well as researchers including Miss Vo
Hoang Nguyen, Miss Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Miss Vo Hoang
Nga and Miss Nguyen Thi Thu from the Institute for
Research and Development of New Technologies, Vietnam, in an
occasion to participating the the 18th Khon Kaen
Veterinary Annual International Conference (KVAC) held between
March 30th-31th, 2017. Besides, the Institute for
Research and Development of New Technologies had let Miss Vo
Hoang Nga to take 3 months to join the mini research project at
the faculty and also plans to study in Master program at the faculty
in academic year 2017.

Eco-health team from the Philippines
On March 29th,
2017 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Khon kaen University led
by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean, Asst. Prof.
Dr. Jatesada Jiwakanon, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Seri Kaeng-air, Associate Dean for
Administration and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirikachorn Tungkawattana
lecturer in Department of Pathobiology, as coordinator had Welcomed
of expert Eco-health team from the Philippines which is led by
Dr. Edwin C. Villar, Director of Research and Development
Department of Science and Technology. After the welcoming ceremony,
there was a lecture on pig farming in a small farms in Khon Kaen
area by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jatesada Jiwakanon. In the afternoon session,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Seri Kaeng-air accompanied the delegates from
Philippines to visit the farmer’s farm as a role model about solving
the poverty problem according to Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in
Nonthong Sub-district Administrative Organization, Waeng Yai
District, Khon Kaen Province. The afternoon visit was supported by
the Northeastern Development Cooperation Office, Khon Kaen
University.
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University visited
National University of Laos
On April 9th, 2017, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine KKU's
delegate led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean
and Mr. Sitthiporn Kapbualoi, International Relations Officer
visit iVet Animal Hospital in order to supervised Miss Maichoulor
Wangxeng, a 6th year student who has been trained in
the Cooperative Veterinary Education Program at the iVet Animal
Hospital, Vientiane Branch which is under the supervision of
Dr.Benchawan Saisawat, Clinician for a period of 3 months
between January 16th - April 16th, 2017
Then on April 10th, 2017 at 10.30 am, at Faculty of
Agriculture, National University of Laos, Nabong Campus, FVM-KKU
take this opportunity to congratulated Assoc. Dr. Fongsamouth
Soutthammavong on the occasion of being appointed as the new
Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, National University of Laos, Lao PDR
(FOA-NUOL). Academic cooperation and exchanges of student and
staff between the two institutes especially jointly development and
enhance the veterinary profession was also discussed for this visit.
On the afternoon session, Dr. Vannaphone Putthana, a
lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, FOA-NUOL,
accompanied FVM-KKU delegates to visit the new laboratory that
was supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In addition, The
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University and Faculty of
Agriculture, National University of Laos had a great collaboration
for 10 years. Currently, there are several FOA-NUOL staffs are
studying in master and Ph.D. program at FVM-KKU.

the 18th Khon Kaen Veterinary
Annual International Conference (KVAC) on the topic “Safe food &
Good practice for One Health”
Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, KKU led by
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kochakorn Direksin,
KVAC2017 chairman in collaboration with Khon Kaen University,
Department of Livestock Development, Cholangiocarsinoma Screen And
Care Program (CASCAP), and Veterinary Khon Kaen University Alumni
Association, had hold the 18th Khon Kaen Veterinary
Annual International Conference (KVAIC) on topic of “Safe
food & Good practice for One Health” during March 30 – 31, 2017
at Avani Hotels and Resorts, Khon Kaen. At the conference, was
honored given a welcome speech by
Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul,
Vice president for Research and Technology Transfer, Khon Kaen
University. After that Dr. Silthum
Wara-Aswapati, General Director of
Regional Livestock 4, Khon Kaen gave the opening speech for the
conference.
This conference was aimed to present about knowledge
and modern technical technology, exchange opinions on matters
affecting human and animal health. It also focuses on the
cooperation of various in the ASEAN countries that have been set up
joint activities in various fields. The goal is for all countries to
cooperate and coordinate One Health, to exchange technology,
especially knowledge and communication. It is also very necessary to
control and prevent the disease and enhance the health of the
population of the region. Modifications in one side of a party may
affect one another's health. In addition, the holistic understanding
of human and animal health is very important to support mutual
well-being. It was also a platform for FVM-KKU alumni to present
their academic works in the field of veterinary science and health
science. The idea to focused on One Health is a revolutionary
concept that faculty has proceeded continuously. There was oral and
poster presentations from FVM-KKU graduate students and alumni. More
than 700 participants both Thai and Overseas were joined the
conference.
