Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia (FVM-GMU)
The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon
Kaen University, Thailand (FVM-KKU) and Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia (FVM-GMU), was held on
December 13th, 2019 at Archanai room, 5th
floor, Pichet Luangthongkam Building, FVM-KKU. At the signing
ceremony, The MOA was signed by, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat
Kamollerd, FVM-KKU Dean and Dr.Teguh Budipitojo, FVM-GMU
Vice Dean for Human Resource and Accountant Affairs. In addition,
Dr.Teguh Budipitojo had led other administrative member, Dr.
Widagdo
Sri Nugroho
to be the singing witness as well. FVM-GMU is considered one of the
oldest and most famous Veterinary Institute for Veterinary Medicine
Profession and also has a high standard which has been in the
forefront of Indonesia for many decades. Both institutions
recognize the importance of academic cooperation which is based on
research collaborative, exchange of staff and the development of
teaching and learning. This MOA
will commence on the date it is signed by representatives of both
parties and shall be valid for a period of 5 years.
FVM-KKU hopes that this memorandum will lead the development of the
veterinary profession particularly animal and human quality along
the way and contribute to sustainable development in the future.

Bangladesh
On
September 11th, 2019, led by
Assoc.Prof.Dr.Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean of the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine (FVM-KKU) together with Faculty’s administration
team and staff had warmly welcomed the final year students, Mr. Abdullah Al Faisal,
Mr. Md. Raihan Khan Naye, Mr. Muhaiminul Islam Tushar, Mr. Abu
Zubayer Tanzin, Mr. Md. Abit Hasan, Miss Rupasree Seal, Miss Nazifa
Tahsin Promee, Mr. Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Miss MST. FATEMA
KHANOMand Miss Radhika Dasfrom Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences
University (CVASU), Bangladesh. Theses 10 students from CVASU
visited FVM-KKU under exchange program collaboration between the 2
institutions. They are going to attend short course training in
Companion Animal as well as Large Animal clinics during September
12th– 24th, 2019. During the visit, they
will have an opportunity to observe and practice at the Veterinary
Teaching Hospital, work on a field trip and also learn Thai culture.
FVM-KKU expected that this time internship will not only enhance the
experience but also enhancing the skills and expertise of the
veterinary profession in term of staff and student exchange which
will also create academic cooperation and make the institution
collaboration to be stronger. In addition, this exchange program is
in line with Khon Kaen University's goal of strengthening
internationalism. In addition, the Faculty already had an Academic
Cooperation (MOU) with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,
Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU),
Bangladesh since 2015.

2019
On August
22nd, 2019 at 1.30 pm, at Kochasarn meeting room, Pichet
Luangthongkham Building, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon kaen
University (FVM-KKU), Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranee Singh, Assistant
Dean for Research and International Affairs together with FVM-KKU
lecturers and staff had welcomed and also presents the faculty
souvenir of appreciation to 4 teachers and 20 students from Nippon
Veterinary and Life Science University, Japan (NVLU) under the 2019
study tour which is the annual joint program between the two
institutions. During the visit, faculty’s executive board
accompanied NVLU group to visit FVM-KKU Animal teaching Hospital and
KKU Natural History Museum
On August 23rd,
2019, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sompoch Weerakul, lecturer from
Division of Companion Medicine, led the NVLU delegations to visit
the King Cobra Village at Khok Sanga Village, Nam Phong District,
Khon Kaen and also visit Khon Kaen Zoo. In the late of night, at
7.00 pm, the welcome party was held at Khon Kaen Hotel in order to
strengthen the relationship. At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
gave a welcoming speech for the party and expressed the appreciation
to the NVLU for decades kindness collaboration. During the party,
there were some of students cultural performances from both
institutions. In the morning of August 24th, 2019, the NVLU group
left Khon Kaen in order to visit Korat Zoo and Phra Nakhon Si
Ayutthaya Province. The Faculty would like to thank you the
administrators, faculty’s supporting staff and all FVM-KKU students
who helped to organize various activities for welcoming the
delegates from NVLU Study Tour 2019.

Veterinary Medicine KKU organizes Veterinary Friendship Activity
2019
On Sunday,
August 4th, 2019,
at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Khon Kaen University (FVM-KKU)
lead by International Relations Affair, Research and education
services together with FVM-KKU student club had organized the 2019
Veterinary Friendship 2019 activity. The
purpose of this activity is about to strengthen the relationship
between Thai students and international exchange students that visit
FVM-KKU for internship program under MOU collaboration. The
activities consisting of 15 FVM-KKU students, 10 exchange students
from the College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest
University, People's Republic of China and 10
students from the College of Veterinary Science, Massey University,
New Zealand. Besides being a concise activity relationship between
students, there were also a good opportunity for Thai students to
practice and enhance English skills especially learn new culture.
The activities format was group rotate to various learning units
about the veterinary profession from FVM-KKU student club members,
such as the Rabies Club, DTC (Dog training Club) and also organizing
field trips at the KKU Natural Museum. This activity was honored by
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean, presided over the
opening speech and welcomed the participants. Asst. Prof. Dr.
Suwit Uppasai and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chareerat Iamsaard,
Associate Dean and Assistant Dean for Student Development and Alumni
Relations affairs were joined the activities respectively.

On August 2nd,
2019 led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuchat Kamollerd, Dean of the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University (FVM-KKU)
together with the faculty administrations team and staff had warmly
welcomed
exchange final year veterinary students Miss
CHEN, JIE-YI, Miss THE, YEE JYE, Mr. TSAI, MIN-TZE andMiss YU, YI-LING,
from College of Veterinary Medicine, National Chung Hsing
University, Taiwan (NCHU). 4 NCHU students will attend clinical
practice in wildlife and exotic animals at the animal hospital and
study part of Khon Kaen Zoo, Khao Suan Kwang District, Khon Kaen
under an academic cooperation agreement (MOU) for a period of 1
month during 2 – 31 August 2019. Khon Kaen Zoo is considered a large
zoo with outstanding physical and environmental characteristics,
there are also expert staff who can provide knowledge about various
of animals to enhance knowledge for students. This internship
received courtesy from Mr. Thanachon Kensing, Director of
Khon Kaen Zoo welcoming 4 NCHU students to practice at Khon Kaen
Zoo. In addition, Dr. Yanyong Weerawattrakul, alumnus of the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon kaen University as a
veterinarian and supervising the students throughout the program.
Khon Kaen University and College of Veterinary Medicine, National
Chung Hsing University, Taiwan had a long-term academic cooperation
especially the exchange of students and staff every year. FVM-KKU
expects that this internship will be enhancing the experience as
well as upgrading the skills and expertise of veterinary profession.

together with 10 exchange students, Mr. Chao Wan, Mr. Xiao YangYan,

College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University,

. This visit is a part of staff and students exchange program under
MOU collaboration between the two institutes. In addition, long and
short term exchange staff particularly academic collaboration were
discussed. During the visit, SWU delegates had an opportunity to
observe the Animal Teaching Hospital both companion and large animal
sections and laboratory facilities of the Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Khon Kaen University. SWU students will be trained at KKU
veterinary Teaching Hospital in a period of 1 month during July 20th –
August 19th, 2019 which under supervision by Teaching
Hospital veterinarian. In addition, The Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Khon Kaen University and College of Animal Science and
Technology, Southwest University, had a long and continuous academic
cooperation, especially regards to exchange of students and staff.
In each year, there will be lecturers and students from both
universities take a chance to exchange. In addition, the faculty
also brought SWU teachers and students joined a cultural trip in
order to strengthen the relationship more closely at Pattaya,
Chonburi Province as well.

Tacoma, final year veterinary student from School of Veterinary
Science, Massey University, New Zealand, to attend 4
weeks internship in the field of surgery, small animals,
large animals and livestock farms at FVM-KKU Animal Teaching
Hospitals during July 10 – August 7, 2019, then 10 students will
attend another training in Exotic Animals during 10 - 22 August 2019
at Kwan Kham Animal Hospital, Bangkok. In addition, the faculty also
arranged an extra field trip to all 11 teachers and students to
visit important attractions in Khon Kaen such as Khon Kaen Zoo,
Snake King Village and famous sightseeing at Nong Khai province.

Achmad Fajar Alam, Mr. Ahmad Nasir Fachrudin, Miss Myrza Azarine,
Miss Nabilah Rahmawati, Miss Aldhia Safiranisa, Miss Dinda Distika
Fazriyah, Miss Vinca Firdausi Rosea, Miss Mutia Nur Fitriani andMiss Neisry Arysta, veterinary student from Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University, Indonesia, to attend
3 weeks internship related to small animal surgery and
medicine unit at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, FVM-KKU During
July 1st – 19th,
2019. Besides training at Vet Teaching
Hospital, VM-KKU had also provided special schedule for
9 exchange students to visit at Khon Kaen zoo
and the King Cobra village, Ban Khok Sanga, Nam Phong District, Khon
Kaen. Since the two institutions have had MOU collaboration in 2014,
these students are the third batch from Airlangga University that
comes to visit FVM-KKU.

During
April 29th-
June 7th,
2019, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranee Singh, Assistant Dean for
Research and International Affairs, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,
Khon kaen University (FVM-KKU), joined the research project with
Nippon Veterinary and Life Science University (NVLU) researchers and
lecturers on the topic of “Glucose transporter in vascular and
smooth muscle contractions (GLUTs / SGLTs)” at Nippon Veterinary and
Life Science University (NVLU), Japan.

Students and staff exchange programs under the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU
and College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University,
China
During June
3rd – 7th, 2019 led by Asst. Prof. Dr.
Pimchanok Suwannathada, associate dean for Administrative
Affairs and Asst. Prof. Dr. Prawit Butudom, associate dean
for Academic Affairs, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen
University (FVM-KKU) had led 8 FVM-KKU students to attend 4 weeks
study and exchange cultural program at the College of Animal Science
and Technology, Southwest University (SWU) in Chongqing, China
during June 3rd – July 2nd, 2019.
The purpose of their visit was for study program and discussing
about creating more collaborative research between the two
universities. In addition, also focusing on exchange staff and
students in the future. FVM-KKU delegates also followed up the
progress of MOU between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU
and College of Animal Science and Technology, Southwest University.
During the program, FVM-KKU students were conducted to study, visit
and practice in small animals and livestock farms together with the
SWU faculty and veterinary students. The faculty hoped that all
knowledge and skills of veterinarians that they obtained from this
visit would enhance as well as create a positive attitude in
Veterinary profession.

Kaen University hosted the 20th
Khon Kaen Veterinary Annual International Conference (KVAC) “Global
Challenge on Veterinary Profession and Education”
During 21-22 March 2019 at the Avani Hotel, Khon Kaen, Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine KKU(FVM-KKU) in collaboration with Khon Kaen
University, Department of Livestock Development(DLD), Veterinary
Medicine of Khon Kaen University Alumni Association(VMKKUAA), Thai
Swine Veterinary Association, Livestock Disease Prevention and
Research Technology Group, and Livestock and Aquaculture Research
Group had organized the 20th Khon Kaen Veterinary
Annual International Conference (KVAC#20) on the topic of "Global
Challenge on Veterinary Profession and Education".
At the conference, was honored given
a welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanchai
Phanthongwiriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University as
the chairman conference. The conference was opened by Asst. Prof.
Dr. Prawit Butudom, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty
of Veterinary Medicine, Khon kaen University as the President of the
conference. This conference was
aimed to present modern technology of knowledge and academic,
exchange ideas about factors that affect people and animals. Also
focused on the cooperation of the countries in the ASEAN that has
designated activities in various areas together with the goal that
every countries should have cooperate and coordinate to create One
Health network. It is very important that the prevention and control
of diseases in this region is the first factor that we need to
concern. In addition, modern technology and health management of
people and animals need to be consistent due to the modifications of
one party may affect the health of the other party so that
understanding of the one health concept of people and animals are
important to enhance the well-being of both sides.
The KVAC 2019, More than 700 participants both Thai and foreigner
such as faculty staff, Livestock and public academics both public
and private sectors, graduate and undergraduate students, Alumni of
the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. On behalf of the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine Khon kaen University would like thank you to all
the speakers from all parts, co-hosts of all organizations and
particularly companies that provide budget support also to all
students who have fully helped each other so that the meeting can be
completed according to the objectives set in all respects.
